Fill In The Form
Champions are people who live with disability and want to help others in their community. If that sounds like you, you are who we are looking for.
Tell us about yourself in our short interest form. It uses plain language, so it is easy to fill in.

We Will Be In Touch
Once you send the form, our team will contact you. We will talk through the next steps and answer any questions.
More Information
Country Queensland is too often served last. We are far from the city. We have fewer local services. And the right information does not always reach us. All of that makes support harder to get. Community Champions help close that gap. The knowledge stays local, with people who live here.
We are building a network of Champions. They cover the Wide Bay Burnett and Central Queensland. So no one in our region gets left behind.
Who can join?
We are looking for people who care about their community and want to help others. You might be:
-
A person with lived experience of disability
-
A family member, carer or kin
-
A community leader or connector
You do not need to be an NDIS participant, and you do not need formal qualifications. The program supports all people with disability, not only those with an NDIS plan.
Training and Mentorship
You will not be left to work it out alone. First, you get full training. You learn about foundational supports. You also learn what is changing under the NDIS Review. Then the Wide Bay Advocacy team keeps mentoring you. So you stay confident and informed.
Community Champions
Champions are the heart of the program. As a Champion, you become a trusted local point of contact for people with disability in your community. With our support, you will:
-
Share accurate, up to date information about supports
-
Help people understand their rights and their options
-
Listen to your community and pass feedback on to improve services
-
Connect people with the foundational supports that suit their situation
This is peer support, led by people who understand because they have lived it.
